Arne Duncan’s New Book Provides Inside Look at Public Education

News & Announcements

Former U.S. Secretary of Education and Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan recently released his memoir entitled ‘How Schools Work’. Mr. Duncan looks back on his tenure running the Department of Education and the Chicago Public Schools, as one of the longest serving officials in either of those positions. He shares his perspective on some of the most polarizing challenges facing public education, including standardized testing, union influence, charter schools, and student achievement. Our senior partner Jim Franczek makes an appearance in the book, as Mr. Duncan shares a vignette on how Jim used his formidable legal skills to (literally) open the doors to a successful after school program at CPS.
