Franczek P.C. expands its presence in central and southern Illinois with the addition of David Braun and Brandon Wright as partners. These additions solidify the firm’s place as the premier school law firm in Illinois.

“What happens at a school in one region of Illinois today will be on the doorstep of another part of the state tomorrow,” said Franczek Partner James Petrungaro. “Expanding our presence with experienced downstate attorneys like David and Brandon – whom we have long known and admired – strengthens our ability to anticipate what’s next for school districts and serve them seamlessly across the entire state.”

The two bring a combined four decades of experience representing hundreds of K-12 school districts throughout Illinois, with a concentration on schools outside Cook County from their base in Champaign, Illinois. They join from Miller Tracy.

“Joining Franczek is a natural extension of our practice, as the firm shares our values of providing the utmost responsiveness and well-rounded advice to schools to meet their goals of serving their students and the community,” said David. “Brandon and I are thrilled to join this tremendous group of attorneys in serving K-12 and higher education institutions from throughout the state of Illinois.”

David Braun serves as general counsel to dozens of school districts throughout the state, guiding them through complex issues regarding collective bargaining, arbitration, unfair labor practices, civil rights complaints, and student rights issues. Much of his work with schools involves investigations, including advising, fact-gathering, writing decisions, defending, and handling appeals. He also works with higher education institutions in Illinois and beyond.

Brandon Wright focuses on special education issues within schools, counseling districts as well as leading training sessions for administrators and teachers. He is one of the best-known attorneys in the special education sphere, having conducted trainings in 26 states. Additionally, he serves as general counsel for dozens of school districts and special education cooperatives throughout Illinois, acting as the primary contact for special education matters as well as advising on employment, student discipline, and due process.

Franczek P.C. provides a personal approach and exceptional value by focusing on select areas of law – K-12 Education, Higher Education, and Labor & Employment – and doing them exceedingly well. The firm handles large, complex cases and projects for clients of all sizes while offering responsive day-to-day consultation on more routine matters. Its personable, talented, and highly skilled attorneys, combined with a depth of experience in core practice areas, result in unparalleled quality of service.
