Legal Obligations in Addressing Student Mental Health Issues During COVID

The crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has not only impacted students’ academic growth. Social isolation, the lack of routine, and anxiety about the impact of the illness on family members have made this time especially difficult for students of all ages, but especially teens. In this webinar, Franczek attorneys Dana Fattore Crumley, Jennifer Smith, and Kendra Yoch will review school districts’ obligations to identify and provide service to students who are struggling emotionally. We will review standards to consider when evaluating more restrictive placements, including residential placements, and discuss additional interventions that schools should consider when tackling these problems. We will also discuss what the new administration may have in store for mental health and other “wrap-around” services, and as usual, take your questions.

As always, send us your questions at COVID@franczek.com or submit them through the registration process. Remember, even if you can’t attend our webinar live, if you register you will receive a link to watch a recording at a convenient time for you. We look forward to seeing you!
