LRP’s National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities—Shedding Light Without Casting a Shadow: Attorney Ethics in Special Education Investigations
Jackie Wernz presents “Shedding Light Without Casting a Shadow: Attorney Ethics in Special Education Investigations” at the 2020 LRP’s National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities scheduled to take place in New Orleans, but conducted virtually.
Special education school attorneys are often called on to conduct internal investigations for clients, particularly in cases involving discrimination and harassment complaints involving students with special needs and employee matters involving isolated time-out, restraint and seclusion, and allegations of abuse. In this interactive session, Jackie covers some of the most common ethical issues that can arise in investigations, such as ethical concerns in employee and third party interviews and attorney-witness considerations.
