CEC 2022 – Confronting and Addressing Significant Disproportionality
Franczek partners Kendra Yoch and Amy Dickerson will be presenting a session titled “Confronting and Addressing Significant Disproportionality” for this year’s Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) 2022 Convention and Expo.
With the current attention to educational equity and new implementation of the significant disproportionality regulations, schools are turning more attention to disparities in identification, placement, and discipline of students of different races and ethnicities. This interactive session will provide insights into how disproportionality is determined and what data reveals about current rates of disproportionality. We will also lead participants to identify potential causes and develop plans to increase equity and reduce disproportionality to better meet the needs of all students.
Participants will be able to:
1. Understand how significant disproportionality is determined and what data reveals about current rates of disproportionality.
2. Identify policies and practices that contribute to disproportionality in identification, placement, and discipline.
3. Develop plans to increase equity and reduce disproportionality to better meet the needs of all students.
