American Bar Foundation Illinois Fellows Virtual Event: Arrests for “Driving While Black”
Featuring: John Hagan, Research Professor, American Bar Foundation John D. MacArthur Professor of Sociology and Law, Northwestern University and moderated by Franczek partner Michael Hernandez.
The incarceration of fathers leads to educational problems among children, and there are major differences between U.S. states’ investment in imprisonment and schools. While state investment in paternal incarceration diminishes the educational success of children, investing in welfare and education can offset some of this harm. Join us for this virtual presentation which will analyze these differences in state level investments and further speculate about the role of adolescent arrests for offenses such as “driving while black” on educational outcomes.
