Green & Healthy Living
Franczek is committed to sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint. The Firm is also committed to wellness initiatives aimed to help employees at all levels achieve better health through positive lifestyle choices. Led by Franczek attorney Lindsey Marcus and paralegal Jessica McNamara, the firm’s Green and Healthy Living Committee works to achieve these green and healthy living goals.
In order to reduce its overall waste, Franczek uses primarily recycled supplies, including batteries, markers, legal pads, paper, and pens. All of the conference rooms, copy rooms and kitchens include labeled recycle bins to encourage recycling. The firm also uses recycling-friendly kitchen items such as utensils and cups and green cleaning products. Filtered water is provided in water coolers in common areas and conference rooms as an alternative to plastic water bottles.
The firm is a member of WasteWise, an initiative of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency which aims at helping businesses apply sustainable materials management practices to reduce municipal and select industrial wastes. The firm received a WasteWise Award in 2011 for initiating its green efforts.
Healthy Living Initiatives
The Green and Healthy Living Committee is also focused on encouraging healthy living habits among its attorneys and staff. The Committee hosts regular challenges in which staff are encouraged to compete with each other in reaching healthy living goals. For example, Franczek attorneys and employees recently participated in a Meatless Meals Month Challenge after learning about the positive environmental and health impacts of cutting meat out of even one meal a week.
As part of its healthy living initiatives, the firm hosted its second annual health fair in 2013, and continued to offer free flu shots to all employees.
