Education Law Bulletin School Board Member Day – November 15, 2007

Illinois House Resolution No. 162 declares November 15th as School Board Member Day.  This designated day recognizes the over 6,000 school board members that volunteer their time to serve nearly 900 Illinois school districts. 

 

As noted by the Resolution, Illinois school board members are entrusted with not only the guardianship and efficient use of scarce tax dollars, but most importantly, are responsible for providing strong leadership to set high standards for the education of students in their communities.  These school leaders generously donate their time to serve diverse communities with no compensation and little recognition.

 

For their service, the House Resolution bestows a designated day to show appreciation to these leaders who have a direct impact on the quality of life in their communities.
