Tools for Schools
As school officials know, managing schools is a demanding task even in the best of times. School boards, administrators and teachers have no need to add the burdens of litigation to their already full plates.
Our Tools for Schools are a set of training modules specifically developed to teach school leaders practical management skills so they can effectively handle legally sensitive situations and foster positive and productive working environments.
Our Tools for Schools training programs are set apart by the instructors: practicing education and employment attorneys who are also certified trainers. Courses are interactive, with an emphasis on participant involvement. Aside from learning basic legal concepts, school officials will build the confidence and skills they need to diffuse those issues within their school that most frequently lead to litigation.
Preventing Sexual Harassment in Your Schools is our leading training program. Participants learn how to deter sexual harassment, with respect to both employees and students, to correctly intervene in inappropriate situations and to effectively respond to sexual harassment complaints. Subsequent training sessions will focus on other important issues, including:
- Effective, Efficient and Enforceable Student Discipline
- Teacher Termination and Investigation of Teacher Misconduct
- How to Conduct an Effective IEP Meeting
- Making Students Enrollment and Residency Determinations
- Bidding, Purchasing and Contracting Practices
- Addressing Equity Issues in Schools
An investment in improving school leaders' skills in critical aspects of school and employment law pays off in numerous ways. Well-trained school officials are better able to avoid litigation. Even if litigation is unavoidable, the potential of a liability finding and an award of damages is greatly decreased. Our training programs can also foster a more positive and productive work environment.
For our education entities, in addition to providing the full range of training and employment policies, we review, revise and draft all education-related administrative procedures and policies.
