Reductions in Force: A Sign of the Times - How to Implement and Challenge a RIF

On November 20, 2008 from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Michael A. Warner, Jr. will be participate in a panel discussion on the topic "Reduction in Force:  A Sign of the Times - How to Implement and Challenge a RIF", presented by the Chicago Bar Association's Labor & Employment law committee at CBA Headquarters. 

Mr. Warner will present a management attorney's perspective on this topic, including:

• Managing a RIF to limit legal liability, use of selection criteria/disparate impact analysis/practical tips;
• Drafting an airtight waiver and release for a RIF, OWBPA compliance/managing potentially unwaivable claims;
• Determining state and federal WARN act coverage and compliance; and
• Union-management issues, scope of duty to bargain.
