In April, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released the first updates in nearly 25 years to its guidelines on when and how employers may inquire into an applicant's arrest and conviction history.  According to the EEOC, the new Guidance clarifies and updates the EEOC's longstanding policy concerning the use of arrest and conviction records in employment.

In this webinar, Franczek Radelet attorney Mike Warner will moderate a discussion among firm attorneys Staci Ketay Rotman and Terry Creamer.  The discussion will focus on the legal requirements and risks that employers face when using background checks to screen applicants.  Topics will include:

  • The EEOC's New Enforcement Guidance on the Use of Arrest and Conviction Records
  • State Laws Regulating the Use of Background Checks
  • What Employers Who Rely on Background Checks Need to Know About the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

This program has been submitted to the HR Certification Institute for review.  For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HR Certification Institute website at www.hrci.org

Franczek Radelet is an approved provider for Illinois MCLE.  We will determine if this program will be approved for MCLE credit depending on the number of requests for MCLE.  Please note that MCLE requirements differ in other states.  If you are seeking MCLE credit in another state we are happy to provide confirmation of your attendance but your State Bar makes the final decision on accepting the credit.
