Student RightsISBA's Education Law Jump Start:
May 14, 2012
Amy K. Dickerson co-presents on "Student Rights" at the Illinois State Bar Assocation's Education Law Jump Start: A Primer and Update for the New (and Not So New) Attorney. Freedom of Speech, separation of church and state, search and seizure, and the right to a public education are all constitutional rights granted to American citizens. For students, however, some of these rights are limited, making it difficult for school districts to know where to draw the line. This presentation provides a better understanding of how students' rights are limited once they step through the schoolhouse gates. The presenters also provide insight on counseling school districts on effectively upholding students' limited rights without crossing the line.
