Preparing Your Hotel for a DOL Wage & Hour Audit: Examining the Department of Labor's "Hotel & Motel Resort Pilot Initiative"
Franczek Radelet SeminarBeginning in October, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will embark on its recently announced “Hotel and Motel Resort Pilot Initiative,” focused on the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and H2B requirements. Although very little additional information is being provided by the DOL at this time, it is imperative that hospitality employers review their policies and practices to ensure they comply with the legal requirements and to avoid penalties and fines.
Partners Staci Ketay Rotman, Bill Pokorny and James J. Zuehl address the topics believed to be of particular interest to the DOL, including:
- Exempt status;
- Payment for meals and other breaks;
- Calculating overtime;
- Tip pooling, tip credits and service charges;
- Recordkeeping and
- Donning and doffing of uniforms.
