Franczek Radelet & Rose announced today that founding partner Charles Rose has been confirmed by the United States Senate as General Counsel for the Department of Education, and that the law firm's name is now Franczek Radelet P.C.
Established in 1994, Franczek Radelet is one of the nation's largest single-office practices focusing exclusively on labor and employment law and education law. The firm represents private and public sector employers throughout the country, including the Chicago Public Schools, where Education Secretary Arne Duncan served as CEO prior to his appointment by President Obama.
During his 15 years at the firm, Rose advised school districts and a wide variety of public employers on labor relations and collective bargaining matters.
"This is an enormous honor both for Charlie and our firm. It is of course a tribute to Charlie's talents and experience, but also to the caliber of work by all the attorneys in our education and labor law practices," said James Franczek, founding partner and president of Franczek Radelet. "We are extremely proud to have our colleague chosen for such a critical post at this time of unprecedented federal investment in education, and to work with the President, Secretary Duncan and Congress to help make our education system the best in the world."
At the time of Rose's nomination earlier this year, Secretary Duncan commended the firm for its commitment to education.
"I want to thank Charlie's partners for recognizing the importance of his service to the U.S. Department of Education and the nation at this critical moment in our history," said Duncan. "I also want to express my appreciation to the entire firm for its outstanding service to the Chicago Public Schools during my time as chief executive officer and for its contributions to the advancement of public education."
Franczek Radelet is among the nation's leading labor and employment law, employee benefits and education law firms. Its more than 50 attorneys focus exclusively on these three practice areas in its Chicago office, from which the firm serves clients across the country. Clients include Fortune 100 companies and some of the largest public sector entities in the United States, including the City of Chicago, the Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District, the Illinois State Board of Education and many small-to-medium size businesses and higher education institutions.
