The 7 Deadly Sins of FLSA Compliance

Labor and Employment Partner Staci Ketay Rotman shared her insight on complying with the FLSA and DOL rules in a series of articles published by TSheets called “The 7 Deadly Sins of FLSA Compliance.”

Since 1995 there has been a 456 percent increase in FLSA lawsuits, according to research by TSheets, and U.S. businesses have been hit with a $1.5 billion bill in back wages and fines.

In the series, Staci discusses some of the common mistakes that employers make that can lead to employees filing claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, including misclassifying employees, allowing nonexempt employees to work off the clock, failing to pay unauthorized overtime, not tracking breaks correctly, and ignoring the new Department of Labor regulations.

The article series was distributed to TSheets’s 80,000 subscribers in its bi-weekly e-newsletter.
