September 13, 2010
Chicago, IL

On September 10, 2010, International Child Care recognized Franczek Radelet and partner James C. Franczek, Jr. at a special evening celebration honoring those dedicated to the mission of International Child Care, and particularly its work through Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti. Attendees of the event included members of the International Child Care Board of Directors from around the country, including Illinois State Senator Kwame Raoul.

In January 2010, in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti and as part of the firm’s Community Investment efforts, the law firm of Franczek Radelet, along with its individual attorneys and staff, donated a total of $20,000 to International Child Care for earthquake relief efforts.

International Child Care (ICC) is a health development organization. Operating in Haiti since 1967 and in the Dominican Republic since 1988, ICC is working to change the conditions of poverty that impact health and well-being. Grace Children’s Hospital, founded in 1967, was the flagship of ICC’s work in Haiti. Grace Children’s Hospital, before the destruction of the earthquake, was recognized as Haiti’s leading medical facility dedicated to the treatment of children with tuberculosis (TB). Prior to the earthquake, the hospital received thousands of children suffering from TB, HIV and other diseases annually. ICC has established a Relief and Reconstruction Office in Port-au-Prince and is working to rebuild the hospital and care for the many Haitians living in tent communities and elsewhere throughout the devastated country.
