In an extensive interview with CCH Human Resources' Management Ideas & Trends, firm partner Sally J. Scott discusses precautionary measures employers can take to prevent workplace violence in connection with the layoffs which occur in these tough economic times.  After a layoff has been deemed necessary, employers have to determine how to go about laying employees off and part of that determination will need to focus on how to do so in a way that minimizes the potential for violence.  Ms. Scott recommends a number of steps to reduce the stress associated with layoffs.
