Due Date for First Installment of 2010 Cook County Property Taxes Moved

A recent amendment to the Property Tax Code moves the due date for the first installment of next year's Cook County property tax bills to April 1, 2011 from March 1, 2011. Public Act 96-1297 passed both the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives by unanimous votes earlier this year, and the Governor recently signed the measure into law. As a result, the estimated first installment of Cook County property taxes for tax year 2010 will not be due until April 1, 2011. It is important to be aware that the distribution of the first installment of next year's property tax revenues will be later than usual.
