The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Republic Windows & Doors employees voted unanimously to accept a $1.75 million settlement agreement, thereby ending a six-day plant sit-in that garnered national media attention. The agreement includes eight weeks of severance pay for the employees, who were abruptly laid off last week, along with two months of paid health benefits and accrued vacation time. Bank of America, a controversial figure in the plant closing, paid a reported $1.35 million of the settlement amount.
