Study Finds No Clear Effect of Collective Bargaining on Student Achievement
December 9, 2008
A policy brief from the Center for Evaluation & Education Policy takes the position that there is a lack of empirical evidence on the effect of collective bargaining on student achievement. The brief includes a meta-analysis of previously conducted research, several policy perspectives from Indiana school and union officials, and recommendations for future research. Future research should focus on how contracts impact other influences on teacher quality, such as class size and salaries.
