The Employee Free Choice Act - "Card-Checkocracy"

In a recent editorial, the Chicago Tribune criticized the Employee Free Choice Act and its failure to protect the right to secret ballot union elections. Recognizing the shortcomings of this legislation and its potential to subject workers to intimidation by union organizers, the editorial instead suggested alternative ways to recast federal labor law, including preserving the secret ballot election, allowing employers and unions access to workers during organizing drives and increasing the penalties for unfair labor practices.
