New Report Examines the Challenges of Attracting High-Quality Teachers
November 25, 2008
The report looks at the dynamics of the teacher labor market, examines the inequities in the current distribution of high quality teachers, and makes policy recommendations for addressing the teacher qualification gap. A link to the full report is provided. The report recommends creating and maintaining state data systems that allow analyses of teacher distribution; implementing new teacher policies simultaneously with a plan to study their effects; requiring school districts to report spending at each school on a real-dollar basis; and developing new high-quality teachers that are specifically targeted toward schools serving disadvantaged students.
