Desegregation and the Chicago Public Schools
November 25, 2008
Since 1980, the Chicago Public Schools have been operating under a court monitored consent decree regarding desegregation. In January 2009, a Court will be asked whether the consent decree should continue. With special emphasis on the role of magnet schools in desegregation, this story examines the views of the CPS, parents, and activists on the issue. Franczek Radelet does not endorse all of the views expressed in this story.
