Seth Harris to Lead Obama Labor and Education Transition Team

Seth Harris, a former Clinton administration Labor Department official and now a professor at New York Law School, will head the transition team tasked with reviewing federal agencies in charge of labor and education issues. According to the Obama transition website, Edward Montgomery will head the Department of Labor Review Team. Montgomery is currently Professor of Economics and Dean of College of Behavioral and Social Sicences at the University of Maryland; co-chaired the Obama Campaign’s Labor, Employment and Workplace Policy Committee, and served as Deputy Secretary of Labor, Chief Economist, and Assistant Secretary of Labor during the Clinton Administration. Thomas A. Kochan, currently a professor at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and Nancy E. Peace, currently a mediator and arbitrator, will lead the review team for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
