Illinois Comptroller Warns of More Delayed State Payments

The Chicago Tribune reports that school districts may soon begin to feel the impact of declining state revenues resulting from the financial crisis.  As state income and sales tax revenues decline, Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes warns legislative leaders and the Governor that payments to state supported institutions such as schools may be delayed in the coming months.  If they occur, delays in state payments could raise contractual issues for schools and increase the importance of local sources of revenue.
