March 2, 2009
The Firm is very proud to announce that President Obama has nominated our partner and friend, Charles P. Rose, to serve as General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Education. Those of you who know Charlie are well aware of his passion and commitment to public education. Charlie will now take his enormous skills to Washington and will work directly with Secretary Arne Duncan and President Obama to make our public schools the best in the world.
We will surely miss Charlie but take great pride in the President's recognition of Charlie and in Charlie's opportunity to contribute to one of the most important issues on our nation's agenda. The next step in the process is Charlie's confirmation hearing before the Senate's Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, which has not yet been scheduled. We will keep you advised as Charlie's nomination progresses.
