Under an agreement reached with the United Federation of Teachers, New York City high-need secondary school teachers at select schools may receive bonuses totaling several thousand dollars a piece for gains on school report cards.  Building principals and assistant principals may also receive bonuses of up to $25,000 for school improvement.  The bonuses have been financed through private sources.
