Private Higher Education Loans Becoming Scarce

This story reports that since 2007 thirty-six (36) private lenders have ceased offering student loans. While federal financial aid is still available, the lack of credit may encourage some higher education institutions to institute more pay-over-time programs in which students have an entire semester to pay their tuition. While such programs can allow some students to continue their educations, colleges and universities adopting such policies will be assuming the associated financial risk.
