The Other Side of School Voucher Programs

The Opportunity Scholarship Program in Washington D.C. is about to expire. It provides about 1,700 students in K-12 with up to $7,500 annually to cover tuition, fees, and transportation to attend private school. This opinion piece in the March 16, 2009 issue of the Christian Science Monitor points out that in Milwaukee, home of the longest running voucher program, students in public schools graduate at a lower rate than students receiving vouchers.
