Unions Pushing Their Agenda in Virginia

Share

March 10, 2009

The Washington Post reports that unions have contributed large sums to Democratic candidates in Virginia and are looking to organize public sector employees there as well.  Next to North Carolina, Virginia is the only state that bans collective bargaining for public employees.  SEIU is hoping to change that, having launched an organizing campaign targeted at Virginia’s government employees.  According to the Post, labor leaders have donated thousands of dollars in local political campaigns and are committed to dedicating significant resources to the year’s most hotly contested race – that of Governor.
