Federal Bailout Legislation Also Includes Benefits for Schools

Some of the lesser known provisions of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 will benefit school districts and teachers.  Below is a listing of some of the provisions that were extended through 2009:

  • Teacher Expense Deduction;
  • Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZABs);
  • Enhanced Charitable Deductions for Contributions of Book Inventory to Schools;
  • Qualified Computer Contributions;
  • Reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools Program.
