Further Update on the Republic Windows Saga
March 3, 2009
The Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times have recently reported on the latest development regarding the Republic Windows labor dispute. Serious Materials, a California company, recently purchased the Republic Windows factory in a sale approved by a bankruptcy judge and hopes to reopen in a month's time. Company officials promised United Electrical Workers Local 1110, the union representing the laid-off workers, that it would rehire all of the employees at their former rate of pay.
