Unions look to push EFCA while employers, including retailers, are prepared to fight

January 20, 2009

An article published in the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports on the renewed efforts of labor and management over the Employee Free Choice Act, the legislation that would allow unions to more easily organize workers on the basis of card checks rather than secret ballot elections.  The article highlights the fight against such legislation by large retailers like Target Corp. and Best Buy, which unlike the manufacturing industry are not heavily unionized and are likely targets of union organizing efforts if the legislation is enacted.
