Republic Windows Aftermath: the Prospect of Empowered Workers and the Company’s Most Recent Response

In a recent article, the Christian Science Monitor reports on the legacy of the recent protest by workers of Chicago's Republic Windows.  The six-day sit-in by former employees, characterized as a "new line in the sand" of labor-management relations, may serve as an example for others who face losing their jobs in tight economic times.  In a related Chicago Sun-Times article, Republic Windows denies claims that its formation of a non-union company in Iowa was part of a "grand plan" to rid itself of its union.
