James C. Franczek, Jr. is
a founding partner and President of Franczek Sullivan P.C.
His clients include scores of private and public sector employers,
including clients in the transportation, banking and energy
industries. He is the chief labor counsel for the City of
Chicago for police and fire negotiations, the chief labor
negotiator for the Chicago Public Schools, and labor counsel
to The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority ("McCormick
Place"), the Chicago Park District and the City Colleges of
Chicago.
Mr. Franczek is a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago,
The Economic Club of Chicago, the Metropolitan Planning Council's
Board of Governors, and the College of Labor and Employment
Lawyers. Mr. Franczek is also a member of the Institute for
Law and the Workplace/Chicago-Kent College of Law, the Chicagoland
Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Chamber's Foundation.
Mr. Franczek has been named one of the "Best Lawyers in America"
each year since 1989. He received the Illinois Public Employer
Labor Relations Association's First Annual Leadership Award
for his service as chief negotiator for the Chicago Public
Schools. Mr. Franczek was a member of the Transition Teams
for Governor Rod Blagojevich, Mayor Richard M. Daley and Mayor
Harold Washington.
Mr. Franczek is a popular speaker on labor, employment and
education law and is a former lecturer at the University of
Chicago School of Business, Northwestern Business School,
the Loyola University Institute of Industrial Relations, Northeastern
University and IIT-Kent School of Law. He has lectured on
labor law at the University of Chicago Law School and at Northwestern
University School of Law. He has appeared on television as
a commentator on labor topics and is frequently quoted in
a wide range of journals on professional and educational issues.
Mr. Franczek received his juris doctorate from the
University of Chicago Law School and his bachelor of arts
degree in government from the University of Notre Dame.
