Spotlight

On May 28, 2009, Franczek Radelet associate attorney and Diversity Committee member Deidra A. Norris received the President's Award for Exceptional Service to the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. (BWLA) in addition to being sworn in as a BWLA Board Member at Large for the 2009-2010 Bar Year.  The firm as a whole received the BWLA President's Award for Continuous Support of Diversity and Scholarship.  Click here for more information.

Biographical Information

Deidra A. Norris represents public and private sector clients in all areas of employment law, including litigation. She is licensed in the State of Illinois, the United States Court for the Central District of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Norris has successfully argued before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Norris practiced at Thomas, Mamer & Haughey, LLP in Champaign, Illinois in the areas of insurance, professional liability, and civil rights defense. She is a 2006 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, where she was nominated for the Rickert Award for Excellence in Advocacy in both 2005 and 2006, and won the award in 2006. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Norris taught orchestra in both Texas and Illinois. She received a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 2000.

Ms. Norris is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Black Women Lawyers' Association. She has volunteered for the Champaign County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) as the attorney and guardian ad litem for minors in the abuse and neglect court. In November 2007, Ms. Norris was awarded the George Frampton Award for Service for her work with CASA.
