Tom represents public and private employers in all areas of labor and employment law, as well as in commercial litigation in other substantive areas of law. He regularly appears before federal and state trial courts, numerous state and local fair employment agencies, and private labor arbitrators. He counsels clients in all aspects of labor and employment law, including matters of discrimination and harassment, employee discipline, disability and leave management, drug and alcohol testing, union labor grievances and collective bargaining.

In 2008, Tom spent six months serving as the interim chief operating officer for one of his clients, AdaptiGroup LLC, during that company’s national expansion. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced at Connelly, Roberts & McGivney LLC in Chicago. While in law school, Tom served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Judge Blanche M. Manning. He also served as an editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and as a teaching assistant for the advanced legal writing program.

Tom is a member of the American, Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations.

Tom is the author of “This Land is My Land: The Need for a Feasibility Test in Evaluation of Takings for Public Necessity,” Chicago Kent Law Review, Vol. 78, No. 3. 1403 (2003).
